Its expensive, because you can manipulate a picture to basically do anything you want, its the program the people from magazines use to air brush all the models and make them look perfect for the magazine, its not worth buying unless you plan to do a lot of photo editing

The full Photoshop suite for about $400 dollars is not worth it, unless you are doing some professional graphic design. I would get Photoshop Elements 4.0 which is a portion of the whole Photoshop suite. That is all you need. What Photoshop does is allow you to take your digital pictures and do anything you want to them. If you want to change your eye color to green instead of blue. If you want to change the background from white backdrop to a sunset. You can make yourself thinner. You can make yourself fatter. The possiblities are endless. It can be a lot of fun. You can get Photoshop Elements 4.0 in a store for about $75 or so. You can get it cheaper at Sam's Club. Your best bet though, is to buy Photoshop Elements 4.0 off of Amazon.com. I think it is like $45 or if you go through them. That is if you don't mind waiting a bit for it to be shipped. I hope this helps. Take care and have fun with Photoshop.

I have Photoshop Elements 4, which is a cut down version of the full programme. If you are not professional/semi pro, I thinks elements is plenty good enough. It's much cheaper than the full programme too. There's an awful lot to learn with it, but it is excellent for improving photos. You can adjust all kinds of things and if you don't like what it does, you can just undo it and stat again. I wouldn't be without it now.

Is it worth buying for some one who takes pictures and stuff? I would say probably it is not worth buying if you only take pictuers and "stuff". The software is used at a more professional level and if you dont hvae time to learn a new piece of software then it might not be worth for the person who only takes pictures.
If you are thinking of manipulating images to have them professional print ready then by all means it is worth buying because your prints could be color and size corrected, you can also use it to edit any over exposure, darkness and leves in your image.
As some other people commented you can use it to make really nice stuff just take a look at how Dove uses the software to edit images to have them ready for print:

also you can find more information about the software in Adobe's site with information specifically to photographers:

in case you're only beginning out, that's advisable to initiate with adobe photoshop components which would be a splash greater problem-unfastened and greater much inexpensive. honestly, Picassa by way of google is extremely common for novices and is unfastened. i does no longer say Gimp is merely as stable as photoshop. playstation is lots greater complicated and does alot greater in case you're keen to spend the attempt and time. additionally, Paintshop is agreeable and much less complicated than playstation and costs alot much less. it extremely is no longer as more suitable as playstation yet you're able to do relaxing outcomes. As for cost, do exactly a seek and you gets the cost for each. have relaxing!

i dont have it.
But you can edit pictures with graphics, extending them, adding details to the photo.
Its not worth it if you dont really need to distort pictures..
