Ask his dentist he may be able to suggest something for you. It could also be due to enlarged tonsils. They can trap food back there and cause halitosis. My son has the same problem and we have yet to find a good solution.

It could be the medication that is causing the bad breath but now is probably a good time to move up to a real toothbrush. I wouldn't go to real toothpaste just yet because little ones shouldn't swallow flouride. My son is 2 and we've been using one of those battery operated cartoon character toothbrushes for about a year now but still with the infant/toddler toothpaste. He likes how it tickles and after I brush his teeth I let him try. He really likes it and it's just my opinion, but I think it cleans better than me using the finger brush.

If your fifteen month old is able to eat apples (maybe in small chunks?), this will actually clean his teeth better than your finger and I would offer him water (for the fluoride) afterward. It is recommended to wait on real toothpaste because of them swallowing too much fluoride. I would probably try to find a more natural solution for the bad breath. But quite honestly, I would be more concerned about health issues that would cause "horrible" breath in a child so young. I have never encountered a 15 month old with horrible breath.

Oh my, this is so funny because my daughter just turned 16 months and my husband and I noticed the same thing. She brushes her teeth at night. We use the Gerber toothpaste also, but she has with an Oral B toothbrush (for infants over 4 months of age). I had asked my dentist about switching her to toothpaste with fluoride, but he said not until she's about 3. Babies younger than that usually just swallow the toothpaste. If your baby is sick, it could be from that. My daughter is just getting over a little cold and someone told me the bad breath could be from that.

Bad breath could be strep breath. Not sure if you know that if that was the reason for antibiotics that could be a reason. I would not suggest the regular toothpaste yet. You have to be concerned with how much they swallow and that to me seems a little young. My youngest is
3 and we waited at least until age 2 before giving the kid type toothpaste. Like Batman etc...

It most likely is the medication if you are brushing his teeth regularly. Though if you do want to start using a tooth brush, get one for an infant at walmart I got my son one that is blu e with ducks he loves it, he's 14 months. But now they have a tooth paste that is safer if they swallow it then the regular kids crest, Its new I think colgate came out with I haven't tried it yet I would like to but it's worth a try.

If he is old enough to rinse out his mouth afterwards and doesn't swallow any then you can use the real stuff. My daughter likes mints...they're designed to be ingested. Maybe you can combine brushing with baby toothpaste and using mints.

I would check with the doctor. It is possible that it is a reaction from the medications. You could also try brushing at least twice a day too.

You may try getting a baby's 1st toothbrush & put a dab of flouride free tooth paste on it & let him brush his own teeth. He'll probably just chew on the brush, but that's what I do & my daughter seems to enjoy brushing her own teeth.

it's probably the effects of the medications, wait it out, and don't use any toothpaste that has flouride in it unless your child knows how to spit the toothpaste out, highly doubt it tho, my 2 year old doesn't
