I just moved to GA from NJ so am not aware of all the the laws yet. I have heard that for children under the age of 3, the ratio is 1:10 and that for ALL children under 3 yrs old the ratio DOES NOT double during nap time. For children 3 and older, it can. Can anyone verify this for me? Is there a statute number or something? Thanks for any help you can provide!

oops, I didn't mean that the 1:10 is for all children under 3. I teach in a 2 1/2 - 3 yr old class.

If you're talking about the provider/child ratio, take a look at

There's also contact info. at the bottom of the page:

I have volunteered in a daycare since i was twelve, and started working there when i was fifteen so i know.

The ratio for children three and under is 1:6 no more than 8. For children older than three, it can be 1:10. And it could change during nap time for the simple fact that they are not up running around, and better to handle.

Hope this helps...by the way, if you are arond the Monroe, Social Circle, Loganville, Athens (GA) area, a great daycare is,

Susan's Playworld, located at 426 South Broad Street Monroe, Ga 30655 (770) 267- PLAY (7529)

You should look them up and try them. I highly recommend. Tell all your friends.

you can also contact the state licensing board - it may be 1:10 in georgia but that sounds a little high to me for children under 3
