Mrs. Dunne’s son, Neily, had left the village in Ireland and gone to England to make his fortune. He had been gone six months but had not written home and his mother and friends were getting worried.
One of her neighbours, Paddy, was coming over to see relatives and assured Mrs. Dunne that he would find her son and get him to write. She told him that he was living in an area of London with the post code WC1 and that this was all the information that she had.
Paddy arrived in Euston Station London and walked down towards Kings Cross. Suddenly he noticed a sign over an open door with the letters WC on it. He went in. It was of course a toilet. He looked at the cubicles and decided that the one on the left must be number one. He banged on the door and a voice said ‘Yes, what is it’. Paddy asked ‘Are you Neily Dunne’ and the voice replied ‘Yes, but there’s no paper’. Paddy shouted back ‘Well you better bloody well get some quick and write home to your mother, she’s worried sick’
