Islam means to submit and surrender your will to the Creator, the One Perfect God, in sincerity and obedience.

Unlike other religions, its not based upon the name of a person or a place. Though muslims rever Muhammad (peace be upon him) but he was only a man, muslims don't elevate him to the status of God or an angel. He came to give us the message of Islam, the book, Qur'an, was revealed to him, thus he was the Prophet. Moreover, he is the seal of Prophets as specified in the Qur'an.

Qur'an was revealed to Muhammad (peace be upon him) and it specifies the laws that muslims should follow, the limits that they should adhere to.

Islam strongly prohibits associating any partners with God. He is the creator, unlike His creation, nothing is comparable to Him. Infact associating partners with God is the biggest sin and God tells us in the Qur'an that He would forgive all other sins but not Shirk (associating partners with God).

God says in the Qur'an in Surah Ikhlas (Sincerity)

Say: He is Allah, the One and Only; Allah, the Eternal, Absolute; He begetteth not, nor is He begotten; And there is none like unto Him. (112:1-4)

The religions you state began as regional. People at the start of those religions followed it for different reasons. They may have found a religious culture superior to the ones they've been following. Or they may be in a transitional state searching for a good religion. And again they could have been born into it. (With the exception of the first three, Buddhism is humanistic rather then strictly religious).

What guidlines did they set? Take the initiative and Google each one.

Life if there were no religions? I have no clue.

Vedic Culture (Hinduism) sets forward the guidelines that where given by God. These Guidelines where recorded and essence presented in Bhagavad Gita.
Just as a manufacturer, prepares a User manual for proper usage of the thing, Similarly God after creating this world, gave us guidelines how to live happily in this world and then return back to Kingdom of God.
People follow them, because they trust God.

We dont want false religion, or Cheating religion or Religion that changes the words of God or gives false interpretations as per their needs. That is same as having no religion. And that means simply Darkness, illusion and confused state of existence. It is compared to Animal life.

Any religion is just a pattern of thought or guidelines on how to live life. It involves finding the purpose of life. Knowing that we aren't just blobs of biological matter existing and then fading from existence on some chunk of rock revolving around a star.

Christianity tells you that, you are a born sinner either you commit a sin or not. And to avoide the consequence of that undone sin you have to belive that Jesus died for the sin of mankind. So, bascially you don't have do any sin to be held responsible neither you have to do anything good got get that sin forgiven. Believe in sin and believe in atonement. Which according to christianity is already done by Adam and Jesus. You by yorself have nothing to do.

Buddhism is a system of philosophy rather than a religion in the conventional sense. The main guidelines are to adhere to high standards of morality, reject materialist values and overcome desire.
