The primary reason the immigration issue is so hot right now is that there is a strong link to terrorists sneaking into the country and illegal immigration. There have been numerous reports of terrorists learning Spanish and getting Mexican IDs then mixing in with others sneaking across the borders. And it is happening on the northern borders as well.
How do you suggest the government weed out the bad guys from the illegals just looking for a job? If the police find a room full of innocents and know there is a homicidal maniac hiding among them, they are not just going to let them go until the criminal is found. It's the same principle. So Bush's "stupid" war is a factor, but not for the reasons you ranted about.
But one other point, statistically, the crime rate among illegal immigrants is VERY high, so don't make it sound like the US is the problem in that area. You are quite wrong.

Have you ever seen those homeless people with signs that say "Will work for food"? They are not choosing not to work.

Just because there are a million other issues that are happening does not mean that illegal immigrants are okay. I have no problem with immigrants (most of our families have been immigrants at some point in time) but I do have a problem with people doing it illegally. Why should I have to pay taxes for people that are here illegally to get stuff? I do not like to pay taxes for all the bums and welfare hoes that live in the United States either. but that does not mean that I should have to pay for all the illegal people to have a good life while I take care of my daughter, go to school and work.

Beause Americans want a scapegoat like Hitler blamed everything on the jews, homosexuals, and handicapped people. Americans can't face the fact that we are a nation of welfare takers and lazy bums. These jobs aren't taken by immigrants...they are given because people here, no matter how poor, feel that they are 'above' certain jobs and they feel entitled to more money. Sure immigration that is illegal should be avoided but the reasoning behind why people hate illegals is basically predjudical and racist. They are just using it as an excuse to hate and breed hatred.

You just answered your own question in the first line. You will add to the number of people in this country who can work, but choose not to. I hope you realize the percentage of illegals here who get gov't assistance. And it is still rising. Pretty soon we will be standing in trees, passing out free meals.

I see homeless Americans, and usually they are old veterans who don't have money because no one will employ them anymore. sometimes, they do not choose to not to work. They could have been laid off hard workers for all we know.
