Not sure but I strongly urge you to do some serious research on the Depo Shot before you decide to use it as your trusted method of birth control!
I've read numerous horrible things about it and know a few things about the ingredients and what they use it for in other countries. I don't recommend this form of birth control to ANYONE that plans on having children after taking it...

Wait a month or so. My ex got it the next day hand had bleeding problems for over three months after. We suspect the depo did that. Maybe not.

i've heard about some negative side effects from the depo shot, you should do some research about it before you decide to take it.

they say about 6 weeks, but if you are planning on nursing, then the shot (or any birth control) can limit your milk supply. Talk to a lactation specialist first.

I think you can get it right away.
I had a friend you had an abortion (sadbuttrue) and right after the surgury she got her depo shot on the same day.

You shouldn't start any kind of birth control for at least 6 weeks when your milk flow is established.
