I recently accquired two parakeets. Now that I have them I realize I do not know much about taking care of birds. Does anyone know of a good website or books where I can get information to help care for my new pets?

I have had parakeets over the years and they can be fun and very interactive. With two, you may have more trouble taming and it harder to get the male to talk. Males talk easier than the females.
Mine (one) enjoyed the freedom of flight around the house, with safety being covered so he not get hurt. He could sit on my shoulder and nuzzle and I scratch his head. If, he poop it about the size of a BB and I just walk to the trash and it fall off easy when they not sick. Mine loved Bacon and Eggs and other types of food. One time in winter he got the sniffles and I kept him warm and it cleared up in a few days. Learn to clip their wings and trim their toes, someone will show you. They make a Sandpaper Tube that fit on the Perch, different sizes depending on size of stick, they help keep toes trimmed too. There a lot to learn, but, most comes in time. Too much to list here.

I have two British Budies. They just like to keep warm in the winter. They love different budgie seeds, millit and kitty grass from the pet store. They love water so get the little bath at the pet store. They are easy. In the spring is they start to make buy a mating box. They are easy pets.

Wherever you bought them (like PetsMart) you can find a book about parakeets. Ask me what info you need. I have a book about parakeets.

Parakeets are pretty easy to care for. Keep them out of drafts, give them grit as well as clean water and a good seed mixture and one very important thing... NO CATS!!!
