If they are party animals that may infringe on your sleep and the cleanliness of your house.

You also need to know how clean they are - do they leave the kitchen and bathroom a mess? This could be a sanitary issue.

Do they leave trash around the house - do they share in the chores - are they bringing drugs into the house - if so what is okay and what is not (IE drinking is cool - but don't bring your pot in the place).

And above all remember that you ALWAYS have the right to ask them to leave.

you need something in writing...NOW

Did this person agree to pay 1/2 of the bills (rent, phone, power etc...) if they did, then you need them to sign a contract stating this...if they leave w/out telling you then you could be stuck w/all the bills and you really can't do anything about it

Those things never work out in my experience, as long as you are talking roommate and nothing more...

If you agree to alternate washing the dishes every day, the roommate will use paper plates on their day and expect you to wash your on dishes, etc etc etc

If the person is a nasty smoker, he or she has NO right to kill you with second-hand smoke and that is exactly what it does! Do NOT tolerate it!!!!
