I'm actually sorry I asked this question now, I am not religious but I will do my best to pick a winner without being biased.

By taking responsibility for my actions, by a process of self-examination, and by living a life whereby I recognize my faults and continually work for and seek help in the transformation of my defects into the assets that they were meant to be.

Repent means to re (again) pent (penitent). I don't think that this word does justice to the process of changing one's life. Some define repent as to turn around, and this perhaps comes closer. Still, it's a process whereby one changes one's life in order to live justly. You can seek help from some Deity, or you can come to the conclusion that there is a better way to live your life, and take action on that decision.

Repent means, literally, to change direction. You decide you are not going to sin. You ask forgiveness from God and anyone you may have harmed. You make things good as best you can. If you haven't already, you get baptised in water and The Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit in you means you are no longer compelled to sin. You are still able to sin deliberately, but, whenever you genuinely repent, God forgives you.

You ask God for forgiveness. Then you repent. Now repenting is when you change that which you were doing wrong. So for instance you were a drunkard. Stop drinking. You must change that which you were doing wrong in order for it to be true repentance. Hope this helps!

To repent means to turn away. Its not just asking forgiveness...but going in the opposite direction of the sin...or to turn away from sin.

The sin the Holy Spirit convicts the world of is not believing that God sent His Only Begotten Son that whosoever Believes in Him will not perish but will have ever lasting life.

So repent for not believing in Jesus Christ and confess Jesus Christ your Lord to God the Father. Believe in your heart (heart faith is very important) the Atonement (He shed His own blood for the remission of your sins.) and Resurrection (He rose from the dead victorious over death.).

With true heart faith comes true heart conversion where one is reborn spiritually.

See, all have sinned and come short of God's glory somewhere or somehow. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life.

So, when we rebel against God spiritual death occures. When we confess Jesus Christ our Lord and believe in our heart , spiritual rebirth happens and person is born of God.

A born of God Christian cannot abide in sin (make it a comfortable habit) because of the Holy Seed within. But the New Christian will sin again. When sin happens, we confess our sins, and God is faithful & just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

So the initial confession is the rebirth inheriting God's Kingdom & everlasting life and all that comes with it. After that we are a work in progress, where God teaches us and we change and mature in Christ.

This is how I do it. If God convicts me in an area, I repent of it and give it to God. He teaches me something new every day.

Three types of confession:

1. Repent for not believing in Jesus. Confess Jesus Christ your Lord. (This is the Foundation.)

2. As a Christian repent of sins when they accure or when you are convicted in an area. Confess Jesus redeeming blood.

3. Confess God's promises in His Word. Renew your mind in the Word of God. Submit to God, Resist Satan & Satan flees.

I personally do my best not to act in my own self-interest at the expense of another. On the odd chance I do, I make a note of the circumstances and put in the effort next time to avoid making the same mistakes.

Just follow the instructions below pick either on.

Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Rom 10:11 For the Scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 1Jo 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
