I am looking for a way to move directly to a spot in a word document. Like selecting a chapter from the table of contents and moving strait to the chapter without scroll all the way down.

that's called indexing and you have to set that in order to work

go to "insert" and then "reference" and then "index and tables"

To do that, you will need reference points within the document and a table of contents or links to said references within the text of the document.

Also, the easiest way is to go to Edit>Find and type in a word, phrase , or set of text. That will take you directly to all occurrances of what was typed in.

But, I'm thinking what you're looking for is the first instance.

Good luck. If you need help, let me know. :-)

Try the menu command FIND, or SEARCH for the most specific page number, chapter number, word or phrase in that section of the document. There are advanced choices in the search and find command that will help you seek any number of variations in the document to help you quickly get where you want.

You haven't indicated which version of Word you're using now so the best advice I can give is to go to Help in Word and search for "Column" or "Newspaper Column"or "Newsletter Column". What you are looking for is solved with columns, not a table (a table does have columns but what we need here are columns in the document, not in a table within the document). Word help will give you a way to make columns in your document. In Word 2003 it involves selecting all the text (Ctrl+A), then clicking the "columns" button in the standard toolbar and selecting the number of columns. Your document will behave exactly the way you've asked in this question.

Try using the little double arrows on the right side of the page. It should go a page down everytime you click on it.
