I am a very blonde person, kind of golden and I really want to go into a rich color for a change and for the season, does anyone have any suggestions or reservations about doing this? I know I will be shocked because I have been blonde for 25 years but I am sick of it. I want it to be like Shania Twains hair when she keeps it a little more brown than red. Like a rich auburn or something

I have the same issues. I have in the past changed my hair color several times. As a blonde, fair-skinned person your options are limited unless you have a full-time hair stylist, dresser, and make-up artist. Which I think most of us don't have on a daily basis. However, my best advice is go to a hairdresser and get it done for you. Blonde hair is hair to hold color with as our pigmentation is diffused and is hard for us to hold color. Therefore, a hair dresser will fill-in the color. I would suggest going a medium brown, with golden highlights. If you have any pinkish tones to you skin, stay away from any reds...draws out the pink too much, looks wierd. Good luck!

Do it, I do it every year.... Feria is the best on the market right now. The box with the amber brown color (Lady is Asian on the box) is a nice change not too, too dark, not too light!

It is however, really hard to get it right yourself on the first try in a box dye so don't be surprised if you have to color twice to have it exactly the way you want.

When going dark from blond, you have to remember the blond will somewhat show through after a few washings. Leaving it somewhat gray/greenish because the shaft is going from hollow to full and light reflects through the clear shaft and picks up on the residuals under the newly placed darker color that hasn't completely sucked up into the shaft yet.

When I do it, especially if I am really blond, I almost always expect the first take to be ashy and wear my hair up for a week or two and then re apply being careful not to get any on the scalp.

When I go back lighter as the winter wanes, I do it by highlighting gradually back to blond with foil at a shop.

It is a nice change and it probably will be a shock, but you get used to it after a week or so. You'll love how much fuller and thicker it is though it actually looks healthier with a fuller shaft because blond always removes color and looks hollow and dry and dark always adds color making it richer and fuller.

I love a deep chocolate dark brown with deep mahogany reddish undertones.

Good luck!

I'll recomend it. A few years ago, I went from being almost bleach blonde to a auburn red. I received many compliments on it. The guy who did my hair used dye that would eventually wear out. With my blonde hair, it took longer than expected, but at least this way, if you don't like the darker look, the color will fade.

Try a medium auburn. Auburn has red in it so if you don't want red, then try a light or medium brunette. You could use a demi color, demi colors are less damaging and only deposit color. I really would not go to dark, you don't want to look washed out. Good luck with what ever you choose.

Do it like how Mimi did it on Day's of our lives! She gradually did it with auburn highlights & now she's all one color, it's very cute. maybe doing it @ a slower process will settle the transition for you to get used to it better. i know that a good hairstylist wouldn't let you do anything if it doesn't look good on you! if they let you do whatever you want and it's going to be dramatic & it might not even be the perfect match for your skin tone then they just want your money! But you should totally go to a good hairstylist!

I'd stay blonde but have darker low lights put in. That way its not such a shock and you can do a little at a time until you get the color change you want.

Good Luck my flaxen sister!

Make sure you use a good conditioner. You don't want to damage your hair during this process. Are you planning to do this yourself? If so, you may want to go to a professional. Also, be sure that he or she adds a high gloss.

I say do it there's too many blonde's in the world.

strictly up to your personal taste. Some people just don't get their highlites so bright in the winter. just tone it down. If you want drastic though a lot of stars are going dark, that is up to you and how you would look in dark hair.

Try a golden light brown... you'll still be able to see the blondish, but with light brown tones. You'll look hot.
