Lots of physical activity, less watching t.v./video games. Join a little league team. You don't have to be good to play at age 10, it's all meant for fun. For winter coming up there are basketball, indoor soccer, and indoor football leagues. Cut out a lot of junk food and sweets, introduce healthier foods like fruits and veggies, and healthy snacks. Start eating smaller portions at meals. The sooner he takes on a healthier diet and gets into phyiscal activities, the better. Habits start at a young age.

You must be very careful when advising a child to lose weight. Weigh lose in adolescents can have a negative affect on their bone density. Secondly, I have known quite a few children go through a fat period and then come right back out of it. You must be careful not to cause a problem where there is none.

He has to step away from the junk food, step away from the video games, and start stepping outside (go for walks and other exercise).

Why is he worrying about stuff like that when he's 10? Let him live a little...you're only young once.
