Have you ever looked in the mirror and thought you looked pretty darn good, and then saw a picture and was mortified?

I have started taking digital pics of myself if I am going somewhere important to check my look.

Don't forget that the image in the mirror is reversed, so you never see yourself the same way a camera or others do.

Well, it depends. Some people (like myself) are more photogenic than others. I personally look better in pictures than in person. I guess it has to do with the fact that everytime I take a picture, I have to pose and smile, in other words, I put my best face on.

However, taking pictures of yourself on a normal basis is a good way to notice if you gain weight, if you hair color looks good, etc. I always do - and it doesn't mean I'm vain.

No, to your first question.
The person you see in the mirror is someone only being judged by you, the person you see in the picture is being judged by everyone in and around it and anyone who looks at it.
You become far more critcal of yourself knowing others are judging, making you think you look 'worse than normal'. This is also reason to believe people when they say 'You look good fine to me'

Yes. And I think a lot of it has to do with lighting. The lighting from the flash on a camera can make you look really washed out.
I've heard to do your makeup in natural light, otherwise you don't put enough or you put too much on.

Are u kidding me, yes it is....but on the flip side of the coin, when you looked in the mirror your mood was probably pretty good, but then when u say the picture of yourself at that particular time you may have not been feeling yourself this happens...............
