depends on what you are trying to get out off. Not all excuses work. Be honest about the situation you are not comfortable with and it will make less stressful to think of something to say.

your dog has been sick on livingroom carpet and you cant make it today as you have to shampoo the carpet before the smell/ stain sets in.
