Ok I am temporarily living with my mother, little brother, and sister. I have a two year old(will be two next month). Well she whines for what she wants. I ignore her now but my family (its always someone) interferes and gives her what she wants. Ive talked to all of them about this because I am trying to break her out of it but they continue to do it. Especially my mother.. Its her first grand so you know she spoils her. How do I tell them again without being mean or a B****!!

I've had the same problem with my son (almost 2 1/2) and his grandma...he's the first grandchild too...honestly, I've tried almost everything too...she coddles him, gets him whatever he wants...and now he's starting to order people around like slaves...because she does whatever he wants...it doesn't work with me, but it infuriates me to hear him talking like that to someone. You're going to have to just sit her down and talk to her about it.

Tell her that you appreciate how much she loves her grandbaby and that she wants to give her the world, but that right now is an important time in the little girls life and she's forming how she'll treat people later on in life. Emphasize that all this spoiling may work for now, but what's going to happen when you move out...you're going to have to deal with her...

I'm not sure if this will work, and it definitely won't work the first time, but it's worth a shot...maybe after a few times, my mom's slowly getting better, but it's really frustrating sometimes I know

Best of luck!

It's so funny because I am in the same situation as you. My daughter is two also. I stay with my mom also temporarily and it turn into since my daughter has been born. So now two years hopefully won't hit three. My kid is the only child so when I tell her no she runs and ask my mother the same thing I told her no to. So u know of course my mom tell her yes, that's a big problem for me because I feel like she is under-minding me. So what I did I sat down and talk to her and told her no disrespect but this is my child when I say no that's what I mean. So did that work, no it did not. So the only thing i can tell u like i am doing is to deal with it. I am looking for my own right now u need to do the same or it will continue to go on.
Good luck!

You can forget it ! They are in love with this child and will do anything for her without thinking about that their actions are spoiling her. of course because you are her mother, you see this right away and want to change it.

This comes with living with other people, we did the same thing to my sisters little girl when she came and lived with us. Could not help it !

Please don't cause unhealthy relationships within your family over this. Even when you move out and they baby sit, they will still have the opportunity to spoil her as we all would do.

Best of luck !

Honey, get over it. Grandma rules when she's in her house and when it comes to her grandkids. I know she is yours , but your gonna have to put that on the back burner until you move back out. I know I have 5. I just saved it up for when we moved back out. She did the same thing when she came to vist. That's her first one grandbaby too. She just loves the dickens out of her and wants to do what a lot of grandparents don't get to do. It's nice to have little princess in the house. The sound of little feet is something to hear. I am a grandmother myself now and things I didn't and don't allow my kids to get away with my grandson can. Let them enjoy spoiling her for a while. G/L

tell them that this is YOUR child and if they do not stop interfiering with your rules when u move out they cannot see her. that is mean but u have to be sometimes to get people to understand (dont really do it) but tell her she is underminding u and ur rules and making u a bad mother (not really the child doesnt know any different) but say she is teaching her that if she doesnt get something from someone she will get it somewhere else which could be dangerous in the future

Grandparents will be that way. You just need to get your own place as soon as possible. If your child is a whiner, they probably give her what she wants because they don't like the whining. You and her in a new place would be a win-win situation.....Good luck

Ask her to please not sentence your daughter to a hard time being around others, simply because it is easier to give in than go the distance and see her better adjusted and well liked by others. A good grandma sure can't argue with that logic.

you cant ,, grand parents always interfer and spoil your kid,, get back on your feet adn use your family sparingly,, mostly to say hi and visit,, I notice this with my younger brother and his family,, he is 37,, he is always complaining about my parents doing this or that, but he continues to bring his kids up there and use my parents,,

hope to see you on your feet soon,, good luck

That is almost impossible. My parent try to over rule everything I say or do to my children. Enforce to them that you are trying to teach her that is not how she gets things by whinning

Keep your kid away of your angry mother, take him to the park or any free sports.
And keep distance of your mother or she will hurt you.
