Why brazillian Jujitsu why not just jujitsu. If you can't find a jujitsu dojo close to you try Judo. Very similar in fact it was created by taking the best aspects of jujitsu and adding throws to it.
And has proven itself to be better all around than ju jitsu in competition.
Jujitsu is great but thanks to UFC it has become way over rated. It is not the best style. It is just a style that teaches submissions and is fairly easy to learn. I would strongly suggest learning a bit about Judo than deciding which one to take.

Additioonal: For the guy below me Judo was derived from jujitsu by a man who was a black belt in Jujitsu and if you read up on the history of it and competitions between the two styles Judo fighters beat the jujitsu fighter 9 times out of ten. BJJ is a modified style of jujitsu tha added ground and pound and stole throws from Judo. Smart guy. check source for proof.

It depends on which bjj you are talking about. Alot of bjj is very sport oriented but still very effective in a fight. The bjj developed by the Gracie family however is geared more toward a real street fight, much more so than any other martial art I have seen or trained in. Gracie jj is the most well developed, no nonsense martial art I have ever seen. Remember it was developed by a smaller man to defeat larger much stronger opponents and perfected through years of actual, real fighting. No matter who you are or what style martial art you practice you can only benefit from learning the fighting techniques of real Gracie jiu hit Su.

Don't listen to the guy above me. Judo is great, but all things being equal a BJJ practicioner will own a judoka 9 times out of 10.

I have no clue! Sorry. If you want to travel all the way to Chicago in the US then there is a school run by the Gracie family (I saw the van outside McDonald's! I wanted to go up to talk to them, but my brother-in-law said we had to go...which is BS! I coulda met one of the Gracies! DAMNIT!). I'm sure there are other schools in major cities.
