I have been having major problems with my pc. Its slow, keeps crashing, i get a blue screen quite often instead of my desktop picture, and i always seem to have loads of error messages on screen. Someone at work has told me that i may need to do a registry clean. Never heard of it until today! Would appreciate anyones honest opinion on products out there. Have looked up a few, such as reg cure, reg fix, registry mechanic and reg doctor, but im just totally confused now and not sure which one would be the best for me. I am a total novice, so something user friendly would be best. Appreciate any advice and thanks in advance :)

Surfsecret is a good disc cleaner generally and Paretologic Anti-Spyware is also excellent. PCBugDoctor seems to fix general glitches, so that's always worth a try. All these cost money though. Alternatively, have you tried defragmenting the disc? Click on 'Start' - 'All Programs' - 'Accessories' - 'System Tools' -
then 'Disc Defragmenter' Best of luck.

I suggest reinstalling your operating system. I just did this to my son's computer about a month ago.
Same thing was happening to him, with the blue screen and shutting down. After I reinstalled windows xp it stopped doing all the things you described.
I also went to download.com and got Tune Up Utilities 2006, you get to use it full functioning for 30 days. I run that on my computer also and I haven't had any problems ruining my register.
Good Luck!!

I work in IT and an old mentor of mine once said "no good will ever come from messing with the registry"

once false move and thats at, its a reinstall.
If u do decide to do it then make sure you back it up.

I would just look at anti spywhere tools like spybot, webroot spy sweeper.

You can get a lot from www.download.com

you do no longer might desire to scrub your registry. you're being scammed by ability of "scare-ware", a type of utility that tries to scare you into procuring no longer-mandatory utility by way of bogus errors messages and warnings. in case you prefer, acquire "ccleaner" style periform. it is going to sparkling out all your temp archives and different crap (the 1st c in ccleaner stands for crap) out of your laptop to make it run greater advantageous. Ccleaner additionally has the choice to run as a registry cleanser, yet i do no longer advise it.
