For each cup of uncooked rice measure 2 cups of water. Each cup of uncooked rice will yield 2 cups of cooked rice.
Bring the water to a full boil. Add the rice. Do not stir. Immediately cover with a tight fitting lid and turn the burner to low. Let the water absorbe into the rice for 20 minutes while on low. DO NOT OPEN THE LID! After 20 minutes remove the lid and fluff with a rice. You may have to adjust your stove. If the rice is watery the heat was too low. Put the cover back on for about 5 more minutes. If the rice is dry or burning (you'll know!) then the heat was too high and the rice will be hard. Best to err on the side of the heat being too low and cook it a little longer. Then next time either set the temperature a little higher or just let it absorbe the water a little longer.

Depends on the rice!
Korean, Japanese and brown rice tend to take a little longer than usual.
For Basamati or Long Grain quite simple
1 Cup of Rice = 2 Cups of Water (1/2 cup should do for one person)
Heat up a shallow sauce pan with a little sunflower oil (optional) add the rice and cook for 1 minute or less - add the water till boiling point and then cover making sure you turn down the heat to a low simmer. You can check the rice if you want but best to leave on a low simmer for 15 mins. This will come out perfect.

put 2cups rice and 4cups cold water with a pinch of salt into pan. Heat to boiling, reduce heat until just bubbling a little bit. cover and cook for 15 minutes. Do not open cover. After 15 minutes turn off let set for 5 minutes. Perfect rice every time.

I heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a saucepan. Add 1 cup of rice and cook until the rice begins to turn translucent (about 3-5 minutes). Add 2 cups of hot water, stir and bring to a boil. Lower heat, cover and cook for 20 minutes.

How to cook rice?
First Step
Run a pot of cold water, place the pot of water on the stove and set the stove to High.
Second Step
Then wait until the water is boiling and pour the amount of white rice in the pot.
Third Step
Stir the rice and wait for about five minutes. Continue to repeat the third step unti the rice is easily to taste and not hard.
Fouth Step
Finally, turn the fire off and put the top on the pot. Wait for ten minutes for the rice to be cool. Serve.

boil 2 1/2 cups water add a tablespoon of oil a pinch of salt and when water is boiling add rice once the water is almost dissolved reduce heat to low or medium low and cover let cook for about 15-20 until tender and soft open the lid once before 20 minutes in the stove to turn the rice do not over turn as it will cause it to moosh together and wallah....rice!

For uncooked rice from the bag or sack, I have learned never to use the same amount of water as rice (1 cup water for 1 cup rice). Your rice will turn out dry or hard. Use a little more water. My rule of thumb is that the water level must be one middle finger portion above the rice level, where the middle finger portion is the length of the last third of your middle finger, the one where your fingernail is. Just adjust from there according to your individual results.
