I have a strange light coming on the dash saying that my boot door is opening when im driving. I have a 2003 polo its really annoying but my boot is shut and Ive checked it many times

find the contact in the boot that senses if its open or closed and give it a clean, did the job for me

Its's probably just the switch in the boot that's needing adjusted.

I'd get it checked though, sometimes people are 100% certain the boot is shut but it isn't really shut properly.
You need to be careful here. If your boot has a light in it, the light might be staying on - even when the car is parked- without you realising. This is a common cause of a battery becoming run down.

Common problem on Polo's and Golf's of that era. Whats strange is there can be 2 causes.
1 As stated the switch which closes as the boot closes can need adjusting as they work loose. 15 min at a garage.

2 The wiring that takes the signal can get damaged due to movement. Then the bare wires can give false signals.

i had the polo 16v before of the same time and icons light up now and again due to malfunction and will turn off next time u drive again. if it persists have vw solve it. but u know your boot is shut then its fine.

Your rear screen washer is leaking inside tailgate. it is dripping onto boot lock. the switch inside the lock is shorting out bringing the light on in the dash.

get it checked out at the garage its probably a thing of nothing?
