Do you feel the love the atheists have for you when they try to explain their beliefs to you?

It works both ways you know.

Love and blessings Don

I'm sorry, but when you hear someone telling you; "You have a miserable life and always will because that's God's plan for you.", that's not love, mmkay? Same goes for telling people that they're going to go to Hell and be tormented in the worst way possible for all eternity if they don't accept Christ.

Then there's the really belligerent people who hound you and won't take "no" for an answer and accept that not everyone is going to share their beliefs. The only thing I feel from them is intolerance, fear, and perhaps a little bit of hatred for those different than themselves.

I also feel insecurity, this need to validate their own beliefs by making everyone else believe so they're not alone. They're afraid to be the only one, so they make it their mission in life to convert as many people as possible to get as many like-minded friends as possible. They can't stand to accept that they're not the only valid religion in the world. It's almost egocentric, to want to conquer everything so that they CAN be the only valid religion in the world.

Sure as heck doesn't sound like love to me. Love would be accepting of the fact that they're not the only religion in the world, that not everyone's going to share their faith and beliefs, and love would accept someone's refusal to join the flock and pursue their target no more.

Look at the Christian responses to atheism. There's very little love there. I have experienced genuine concern for my "spiritual well-being" from a Christian, but it's mighty rare, and certainly overwhelmed by the desperate response of Christian denial of atheism.

If you're suggesting that Christians' behavior towards atheists is typically or even often motivated by love, you're simply wrong. It shouldn't take much examination of such interactions here to demonstrate that fact.

Maybe I assumed you all really wanted to hear about the Lord..I guess not...I am so sorry for making people hate the word more or Jesus,,I don't care if you hate me but to hate Jesus cause I came on this site to share his love is sad..I have brought love not hate,,I brought forgiveness not anger...It still does not matter I guess that I probably was nicer to you than some family members..I really feel hurt by the answers,,I really enjoyed alot of the people on here but I see it is time for me to stop coming on here..People just want to bring pain and hurt to others and I don't want to bring that,I wanted to bring love only...

Very rarely on here, honestly. Mostly I feel getting threatened with hell.

Now, I did go to New Orleans to work with a number of church groups; these people weren't interested in converting me at all. They really did impress me, and showed me their beliefs rather than telling me, in the fact that they dropped their lives for a week or two to go help others. That communicates far more strongly to me than threats or tracts.

Maybe if they didn't try to impart their take on morality, I could feel the love, but alas they aren't open minded. Just don't proselytize, and we will get along.

I feel intolerance and conceit from many Christians-nothing much in the way of genuine love though.

I'm not Athiest...But, I haven't seen any love from Christians. Its mostly bashing people and pretty much telling them they are going to hell because they don't believe in their god.

No. Never. I feel their condescension, their anger, their fear, their irrationality, their lack of empathy, lack of understanding, stubborness, close mindedness and whole list of other negative things. Love has never been among them, not on Y!A or face to face.
