I like making my own chinese food from scratch but the ones available at the local supermarket don't really taste that good.

You have to go to a Chinese Supermarket. They are in every big town.

otherwise do as MADMARY suggest & look to see if you have a Chinese supermarket close enough for you to visit

I go to my local chinese cash and carry and they have brilliant sauces, you could check the phone book to see if there is one nerr you.

uncle ben's are the best. Supermarket own brands are never great.

what kind of chinese food you 're cooking ? Different types of chinese food use different sauces. Can you be more specify?eg: sweet n sour ... ...

batter for raw chicken\
2 eggs beaten,
2 1/2 tablespoon cornstrach,
2 1/2 tablespoon flour,
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
------------------------------------------------------------
Sauce:
4 Tablespoon soy sauce,
1 teaspoon garlic,
1 teaspoon ginger.
chicken broth
Cornstrach to thicken broth.
