is this becuase it would be to much work to process them,,,,,i know so many illegal aliens that got pulled over after drinking and the police just let them slide when they saw the tennesse drivers liscence or the international one,,,they are here illegally and they can get away with driven like *******,,,what a crock they can't just give them a ticket,,,they would have to report them for being illegal plus if a officer reports a random illegal no matter what the situation he will be labled a racist in most towns and counties ,,so his carrer could suffer,,greatly,,,so it's a lose lose situation for the cop ,,,,does anybody else know about this situation,,,,any cops

It depends. Now that people are aware about it, many police personnel have been given the authority to check immigration status. Some people have decided against it, although it is up to the officer if he wants to report the illegal. I also think it depends on what was done to get in trouble with the law. Someone who murders is more likely to get a check than a guy with a traffic ticket( though this does happen).
I beg to differ- the city of El Paso has vehemently opposed all immigration checks for everyone. They have a don't ask, don't tell policy if you will. Their reasoning is that illegals are also often victims of crimes here, and fear of being reported to INS will hinder the individual from calling the police. This followed a raid in which police here apprehended illegals and the illegals were deported and/or processed. The city has simce determined police have no authority to do this.

I think it amounts to this: Immigration enforcement's a job that nobody really wants to do, which is why it's taken 20 years for anyone to really get adamant enough to prod Congress and everyone else involved hard enough to get them moving on this issue. We're supposed to have all these duly appointed officials and enforcement etc., but if they can just kind of skate by without actually DOING the job, well that's the path of least resistance.
I think another reason is, theres' a people angle involved. Many of the illegal aliens are actually legitimately trying to help themselves, and their families, which is basically a noble and worthy endeavor. Comma. 12-20 million illegal aliens is just too damn many, and when you start getting into the other aspects of things, and start really reading about this whole mess, you quickly gain insight as to why the country's going billions further in debt by the DAY. Poor administration, and poorer enforcement of the existing laws, plus bureaucracy=what you see here. Add a little fraud, corruption, and laziness, stir vigorously, let stand for 2 decades='fun' for everyone...

Probably because immigration can't pick them up ( distance to and from, police dept. can't hold them for that long. You have to understand that most of these mojos live far away from the border areas where border patrol are found in large numbers. In the interior of the US, it is mostly ICE that gets involved but they are to busy with investigations to deal with the petty problem of one illegal.

doesnt happen that way in ny, i was in traffic court and there were quite a few illegals that were jailed and recc for deportation. if that happens in your town, complain
