i also take xanax, but only as needed...maybe you should change the times you are taking it, or go back to your dr for a lower dose.

Hi Vic. The symptoms you describe are common to this medication. No, they will never stop doing that. Xanax is somewhat dangerous as it causes drowsiness. If you do very much driving, it will cause you to fall asleep at the wheel. And we all know what that means. I was on it for quite some time and thankful now that it is no longer necessary. it is a good med. for its purpose, but does not fit in with an active life style.

xanax will always mellow you out....sooner or later you might not be sleepy but you will always feel .....very chill. It will be ok but like that other person says it is very addictive my friend has been taking this drug for about 6 years and he is on the same dose and now he feels like it really isnt doing much but keeping him from getting sick from a withdrawal so you should definetly not use this as a longterm there are other similar drugs that arent addictive

Hi Victoria, hope you feel better soon. But yes it takes the body some time to get used to the medication, specially if you are taking it on a daily basis. If in another week you are still feeling exactly the same and not seeing any improvement, call the doctor and ask if he can lower the dosage or witch to a medication that is less sedating. Good luck:)

You get use to taking it. It will decrease but if it does not maybe your doctor should lower you dose. However I notice that if I take it when I'm very upset after it calms me down I still sometimes become tired so I get up and do something until it passes it works for me.

No. Xanax will "relax" your and your mind for anxiety purposes. That's what it is suppose to do! Ask your doc if you can safely lower your dosage and get results or add something non-addictive to the Xanax, like an antihistamine. Godloveya.

Please be very very very careful with this drug.. I became highly addicted to it. You need more and more of it as time goes on, and yes it will make you drowsy. But as time goes on you will become dependent on it. I got up to 6 mg. a day, and the withdrawl is one of the most difficult things I had to do. I hate the drug. Please look up the "Ashton Manual" on the internet. You will never, ever want to take another xanax as long as you live.
Trust me on this one. Stop taking it if you can

xanax is a powerful drug. if your body gets used to it it can become badly addicted. the sleepiness is normal cause its a benzodiazapine or in other words "downers". it also screws with your memory and makes you feel clumsy.
