Yes there should - I'm a smoker and it would be nice for me to be able to smoke. But it isn't fair to smoke near other people, so a separated area like at airports would be a good idea.

I think so yes, there is one at most bus stations or at least passengers are advised not to smoke in the bus stances. Smoking is pretty much unsociable these day and people should have more consideration, I live in Scotland and so happy its been banned in public places, I can go out to the pub and have a great time without breathing in smoke and smelling horrible afterwards.

Yes there should be. Every time a steam train comes past, it gets foggy. They should be sent to a special smoking room.
Oh you mean people with cigarettes ?.
Err, yes there should be a designated smoking area at train stations. Only of course until the smoking ban arrives next year.

Can't believe some of the self righteous replies Ive just read. People smoke. Get over it. Most smokers dont go out of their way to blow smoke in peoples faces so the view that we're all disgusting, horrible people winds me up. As someone said junkies get more sympathy and compassion.
In answer to the question yes there should be designated areas. After all a pub is a designated area for drinkers. A car park is a designated area for drivers, a pavement is a designated area for pedestrians so why shouldn't smokers(we pay our taxes after all) have designated areas?

I think there should be designated smoking areas everywhere. I smoke, but I do appreciate that non smokers don't want it. I can't see the problem with the holier-than-thou non-smokers (not all non-smokers I may add!) - if they don't want the smoke - don't go into the designated smoking area! Not exactly fu*king rocket science is it? Small minded people with no tolerance towards other people because they are so perfect make me vomit. (Oops, careful - they'll demand a designated area for that too!).
I don't drink, but I don't sit on my high horse and throw verbal stones at people who do!

Yes yes, we know smoking kills the smoker and the people standing near them, which is why there should be designated smoking areas - the smokers can go there instead of puffing away on the platform, next to the non-smokers

Yes I believe designated areas should exist. As a converted non-smoker (just over three months) I truly feel that smokers are being unfairly treated. This is something you do by choice and therefore you should be able to smoke when you need.
I am still glad I have (hopefully) given up.

No, it may annoy you but who do you think you are? Are you one of those asses that sit on the train and use so much hair spray that there's a cloud around you? Why don't we make all the smokers wear a yellow cigarette on their clothes, like the Nazis classified different areas for different social classes.
