Sometimes the direct approach is best, just ask. But if that seems too bold for your liking, look for the following signs. Pay attention to your conversations with the person in question.
1) Does this person show a special interest in having a conversation with you and, once started, make an effort to keep that conversation going?
2) Has this person taken a sudden interest in your life and hobbies? This is a sure sign that he or she is interested in something.
3) Other elements of body language include frequent eye contact, holding your gaze and looking down before looking away.
4) Does the person you're wondering about just plain smile at you a lot?
Just remember, take each moment like it will be the last. This I feel will be a good start for you in knowing. Good Luck!!!!!!!

Well not sure I would consider meeting up with an old friend after church a date, either way she probably doesn't even know herself if she likes you yet. Long time no see, hard to tell. The thing you should really be trying to figure out is your status on how you feel about her. Just a friend or maybe a little more. Don't rush into these things and just go with the flow.

Oh, so guys don't know if its a date, either? Even though they made it? Hmm, that's nice to know. Well, it sounds like it COULD be a date, but it doesn't have anything set in stone. I think that's what makes a date official- plans to actually do this or that. So, do you like her? And did you want it to be a date? If so, then think of something to do, call her back and let her know whats up so she'll know what to wear. Plus, she won't be confused, either. Because if it went down like that with me, I'd be confused.

Probably :)
But still, don't go in with any expectations. Just go hang out, have lunch or whatever, catch up and have a few laughs. Smile and make eye contact... briefly touch her hand or arm if you feel compelled and gauge her reaction. If she is into you, she will be receptive & responsive; if she's not, she may pull away, look away, generally appear uncomfortable. Just go with the flow!

don't read too much into it just yet it was just an invite to catch up while your near by where she lives get your hopes up or make expectations can leave out room for wonderful discoveries or letdowns and maybe a bit resentment
let it go as it will aqnd maybe it might work or you caught up with an old friend
