Your answer for a couple of "specialty beers" for the 30-50 crowd would be Becks and Sam Adams... along with the typical; Bud, Miller, and/or Coors products should do the trick.
P.S. nice touch with a couple bottles of wine...

Bud light & Miller Light are 2 favorites of course. Either you are a Bud person or Miller person, So make sure you have them both. A few Coors Light does hurt either.
Second, Heineken is very popular and Corona as well. As far as dark, Sam Adams is a good ol' American dark beer that majority of dark beer drinkers don't mind.
Wine? Its a tailgate party not a dinner party. Unless you anticipate alot of women then I would say no wine. Maybe some malt beverages like Smirnoff or a wine cooler. Men, myself included, that even like wine is not going to drink it at a football event.
There is hundreds of beers but don't go to far off the norm b/c people will be hesitant to try something they never had and you will be stuck with alot left over. But the bottom line is that if it is free they will drink!

RE: your wine selection, try to change it up a bit. EVERYONE does Merlot & Chardonnay. Try something a bit different but just as yummy... like a Shiraz & a Dry Reisling. I promise you'll get more white wine drinkers if you have a non-Chardonnay.
RE: the beers... How about 2 really deeelish imports like 1)Hoegarten (from Belgium), which is a wheat beer. It's almost cloudy & white in appearance, best served w/ a thin orange or lemon slice, or both. Unique taste, a HUGE hit!! and 2)Smithwicks' (England, I think), really substantial tasting ale. You could have maybe a 6-pack of Guinness chilling in the background, some folks like the stout.
Enjoy your party!! :)

I'd mix it up a bit and bring a selection. Since I'm not an American beer drinker I'd choose Rolling Rock for American. I don't think you can go wrong with Heineken and Becks. Bass Ale is dark but not too dark for most people. Perhaps throw in a Pacifico or Dos Equis, both are pretty tastey. Dos Equis has a darker beer that is okay. I'd stay away from hefeweizen unless you know there are fans. If you have a local brew house....their beer would probably be a hit and most brew houses make all different kinds.
Ya know, if you have a Trader Joes you could get a bunch of different Charles Shaw red and white wines. They are very good.
Enjoy your tailgaiting!!!

Try a few of the old stand-bys (Bud, Bud Light, etc.) but try to look for beers from local microbreweries in your area. This will give the option of the usual plus an interesting twist on tailgating. These can easily be found in your local liquor store.

We do tons of tailgating - Go PSU - and usually bring Amstel Light, Corona, Miller Light and Heineken. I do bring wine for the ladies and a few malt beverages, Mike's Hard Lemonade or the like. For our last tailgate I made Jello shots (really to clean out the liquor cabinet) and they were a big hit.
Have fun!!

To keep the grocery list simple it's; corona, heineken, budweiser. This is the standard trio provided whenever someone is providing to a crowd who's particular brands he/she is not aware of. Throw in some guiness and you've covered all bases. As far as wine just shop at trader joe's, and after you've looked all around, get some two buck chuck : )

Forget the imports and ask your distributer for a local microbrewery I.P.A. Microbrewery beer is very popular. I am 43 and I would be bummed if Ihad a choice between bud and coors lite.

Bud lite, Miller lite, are good choices. A good german dark beer is a sweeter taste; but a little pricey. Look at your sports commercials & you will see. The wine is a good idea for the
girls, but alot of them also like beer. My choice of beers are in bottles which to me taste better.
Enjoy!!!!
