I was a lacto veggie for 5 years. I actually had no choice, I started getting sick from meat, it started with beef and ended up even with fish and chicken if I ate it I was sicker than a dog... doc couldn't explain it. So I was completely off meats for 5 years. The smell even started getting to me. Then one day, I drove by a burger place and it smelled so good and my stomach started rumbling and I thought to heck with it...I will give it a try (I hadn't missed meat at all up until that point.) I have always listened to what my body says and have tried to give it what it wants. Well, let me tell you it was the best hamburger I ever had. I eat meat now when my body craves it, but my family's diet has a lot of vegetarian meals as well as some with meat.
Have I ever felt guilty about it? No. I do understand why some people choose to be vegetarians, and I respect that choice. For me though I feel just as bad about a plant giving up its life as I do an animal. After all, plants give us oxygen, we need that more than we need animal products...

Hope this answered your question

Have a GREAT Day!

My mother divorced my father who was "Ye Mighty Hunter" and married a vegan. I Lived with my step father and mother. I became a "vegan" by force I lived like that for about 5 years.

I started eating meat as soon as I was on my own. I did however adopt some slightly veganistic behaviors. I tend to only like Turkey, Chicken and pork. I still love my vegetables, and I discovered that meat could be an accent and not the main entree to a meal.

I didn't feel quilty. I did not get to the top of the food chain by eating sprouts and weeds.

I was vegetarian when I lived in Eastern Europe, purely for saftey reasons. The country in which I lived had no food safety laws and I just didn't trust the quality of the meat etc.

When I came home to the states I started eating meat again, because protein is part of a healthy diet especilally when you are trying to concieve. I don't feel guilty about it at all. I like meat and I missed eating it.

I was a vegetarian for 6 years and i now eat most meats, still have a problem with some. It was the smell of bacon cooking that made my mouth water so much that in the end i succumbed.. I felt guilty for a while but not any more

I did. I wasn't a hardcore vegan but I did go a long time with no meat. I started eating it again because I just craved it. I figured my body was trying to tell me something. I don't feel guilty because it's something my body needs. Do you think a lion feels guilty when he eats a gazelle? No because that's what he's supposed to do. I don't eat as much meat as most people, but when I do, it's totally guilt free!

Hi there. I was veggie for 12 years while training for a sport I was very competative in. My trainer wanted it that way. when I was done, I went back to poultry, but I can't seem to make it past that to other meats. It's not really the ethics of it, just the gross out factor.

Kychick is right with reference to the enzymes, yet i components you a splash greater information. at the beginning in case you have been vegetarian yet no longer vegan, you won't have any hassle in any respect except you overdo it once you initiate. it extremely is considering you prefer a similar enzymes to digest milk, cheese (and eggs) as you do for meat, so in case you stored eating dairy products, you are able to introduce meat progressively and have no hassle in any respect. in case you have been vegan and not eating any animal products, then initiate eating pineapple or papaya, and consume it shortly till now eating meat or dairy. Pineapple and papaya contain the finished amino acids you may desire to digest meat products. once you are trying this for a little while, your physique will produce the enzymes on it extremely is own from different nutrition, and you will no longer might desire to maintain eating those culmination. Japan used to consume fish and seafood yet no dairy, eggs, or meat. between the emporers... i overlook which one... asked the samurai to start eating meat and to sit down in chairs and different issues in an attempt to grow to be greater like western ecu countries. in the beginning up, it led to quite some indigestion for them to consume meat, yet even without those culmination, finally their bodies adjusted and at present the jap weight-alleviation plan in lots of cases includes pink meat and different meat products. yet in addition they went into it completely, without beginning with basically a splash dairy or meat daily. usually, in case you do something progressively, your physique will regulate. bodies are amazing issues!

I personally haven't, but I know someone who has done this and she says that the change in lifestyle was for the better. She does not seem to be feeling any inner-conflict of guilt.
