Peeling is a normal part of the healing process. You've literally perforated your skin with needle holes and the top part has to come off. You should have gotten written instructions for aftercare if you went to a reputable salon and they should have explained the healing process to you. Mine says to use A&D ointment for the first couple of days, then a water-based, fragrance-free lotion after that. Don't pick at it... the flakes will come off by themselves and picking can only damage the design. Also, don't scratch it. They can itch madly during the peeling phase, but a light slap will usually relieve it if it gets too bad.

Peeling and flaking of a new tattoo is perfectly normal. Just add some bacitracin (whenever I got my tattoos the artisits always suggested bacitracin) to the tattoo to help keep it moist. Do NOT scratch, pick or peel them. If you pick at the tattoo then you run the chance of removing some of the ink and ruining your design. It will all be done in a few days and the color of your tattoo will start to return to normal.

The tattoo might not come out right. There will be some faded spots on it and you will have to go back in to get it touched up. Some tattoo places will do touch ups for free if they did the tattoo. But also some places will charge you, esspecially if they know you were peeling it

Hello there
Tattoos will naturally have bits of scabs fall off when its healing, nothing bad will happen then

but be carefull because if scabs are picked off or are knocked off it could make the tatoo design go a bit patchy, its because when its picked/knocked off when it isn't ready then it effects the ink underneath

the best thing to do it try to be carefull with it and use a special cream called aqueous cream morning and night- that helped my tattoos heal quicker

Just let it come off by itself. As long as you don't pick at it, your tattoo should be okay. Applying ointment helps. It is also a good idea to go back in after 3-6 months to have touch-ups done on any spots that have faded while healing.

I think peeling is a normal part of the healing process. My tattooist (sp) told me that a tattoo is kind of like a burn and will go through the same process in healing. Just be patient

You may or may not lose some color. You should keep it moist and covered so it isn't scabbing. I used neosporin and plain old plastic wrap to cover the one I had done on my lower back while it was healing. You will have to apply the neosporin a few times a day. If you do lose some color, your tattoo artist should touch it up for you free of charge.

I have lots of them. If you pick at the peeling you take a chance at pulling up the ink. They say if it itches, make a fist and just rub it over the area that itches lightly. But they are right, it is all in the process of healing. keep neosporin or vaseline on it to keep it moist.

Nothing it is just like a scratch it will peel because your skin was damaged. as soon as it is completely healed it looks great, as long as you went to a good studio to get it done nothing will happen to the ink.

It's normal. It's just like when you cut yourself and you get a scab. Eventually, it will start peeling.
Whatever you do, don't pick at it! Keep it moisturized. If it itches, apply more moisturizer, don't scratch!
