When the commandment "Thou Shall Not Kill" was written, it meant that thou shall not murder. The Bible also stated that killing is entirely permissible when done as a military pr police action or for self defense. It specifies exactly what and how a country's military is to be organized and its duties. The Bible also goes into details about police organizations and their duties. Killing as a legitimate military action is permitted by God. He knows now and he knew then, that the nature of man would require this. However, murder is not accepted.
The Christian Bible does not (to my knowledge), dictate that Christians should go out and exterminate the non-Christians. It does say that we must educate the unknowing or non-believers about God with Christianity.
Apparently the Koran does say this. I've heard things like Muslims are commanded to kill the "Infidels" (westerners, USA) and if they die while killing the infidels then they will immediately go to Paradise (Heaven). This doesn't sound like anything God would say.

Sin and the Fall of Man and man's human nature make people completely murderous and stupid. That's why Jesus came to Earth and paid for sin so people could have a hope of overcoming the murder and stupidity (if not in this life, than in the next).
Prophecy 'predicts' what will happen, it doesn't cause it. Man's own nature will cause the destruction that is to come.

Have you read the Old Testament? To get an accurate translation of the Bible, you need to go to the original source and not depend on today's sanitized version. Moses supposedly delivered the 10 Commandments but his group went forth and engaged in combat to get to the Promised Land.
What if the original text of the Bible said thou shall not murder, would that change your perspective?

According to your logic, then, Bush should not defend that country at all. Suppose Canada gets squirelly and invades the US - If He uses Jesus' non-violent message of resistance as a foreign policy (rather than the *individual* value set it was supposed to be), we would just have to surrender and accept our fate.
Certainly, Bush, republicans, and democrats all act in ways contrary tot he Christian faith they claim - However, Jesus wasn't setting forward national policy, He was offering each person a better way of life.

Dude, you have no clue what you are talking about. These days, most methodists consider themselves arminians - or beleivers in free-will. Whitfield was certainly a calvinist, but that is not nearly true of the whole denomination.

Did you know God led Joshua into battle many times, and even King David. Its not that people is murderers its people protecting what is right. If your saved you should pray for this war and those in charge, instead of calling people murderers and stupid.

People can call themselves whatever they like. God judges people by their fruits. God is no respecter of persons.
When a leader commits his nation to war, as long as it is for self defense, that is justifiable. However, any unjustifiable act against Abraham's seed, God promises to punish them--whoever they are. If, he deliberately misled his people about Iraq, then that sin is a sin against him, his family and possibly against the nation--mainly because they are Abraham's seed and God's promises are yeah and amen. The book of Joel lists the punishments. It might just be a coincidence that the states that sent troops to fight are having endless floods, hurricanes and tornadoes.

George Bush does not represent Christianity or Christians in any way. He's the president. He claims to hold Chrisitan values. That doesn't mean that he actually does. He's also a Texan. Do you think all Texans are just like him? He's also a man. Do you think all men are just like him?

The "Thou shalt not kill" is talking about murder. We are allowed to defend ourselves. Read of David and Goliath and all of the Old Testament.
God hates sin and will destroy it.

it is simple all Christians, including GWB, comprehend the Bible in their own way to mean what they want it to....
If you are looking for something in the Bible there is a good chance you will find it.... or twist it to means whatever you say...
Look at Jim Jones.... HE convinced Christians to drink Kool Aid Laced with cyanide.... go figure....
