I've been a student of kickboxing for about two and a half years now, and in the self-defense (street-wise) aspect of our training, striking the groin of a man or woman is usually a last resort. We have been trained to strike / break one's knee, elbow, hand, neck, nose, etc., as well as gouge out someone's eyes. A strike to the groin for anyone is just a temporary strike, leaving no permanent / long-lasting effects. If one's life is in imminent danger, and one needs to defend him or herself or that of a family member or friend, it is advisable to do the most possible damage with one to two moves to immobilize one's opponent. There is a small percentage of the human population, which can take a direct strike to the groin or any other area of the anatomy, and it have no effect on the individual. This is another reason why we, as students of the martial arts, are instructed to not strike at the groin.
BUTTTTTTT . . . . you could kick someone in the groin, and from that, you could knee or elbow that person in the face. Together, one's attacker would definitely get the message.
Hope that helped.

It just wouldn't hurt a woman as much as it does a man because a man has more nerve endings in the groin area.
But the one thing both sexes have is the bundle of nerves that're NEAR the groin; on either side of the body just inside the thigh where the joining of the hip and pelvis connects, there are nerve bundles within and around this area.
so you don't even have to hit any one male or female directly in the groin to have debilitating effect.
you can even just push hard with the fingertips just below the waistline or to the side of that soft tissue area (near the inside of the hip) if you're tied up with your opponent, this'll get your opponent away from you rather quickly.

Srikes to the female groin are not as effective. While there are clusteers of sensative nerve ganglia, strikes to that region are not as incapacitating as strikes to other areas. Those strikes do have some effectiveness, however and I have taught both female and male studends to use them, mostly becasue they are so unexpected. Most guys expect thoes kinds of attacks, but women don't. So the element of surprise can outweigh the lower effectiveness of the target area.

It is not nearly as vulnerable as a man's. I don't teach groin kicks for self defense because shins & knees are much easier to hit. Eyes are also very good for women, but a lot of my students are kids who aren't tall enough to reach a man's eyes.

It is because if it was another female they would not have the strength advantage and there are more effective moves against a woman than the groin attack. The groin attack is more effective against a man.

If you can do a pressure point on some opponents to distract them that always helps. Break the arms is always good. Most people won't want to attack you after that. If someone is standing kick them on the inner thigh. It will also help to knock them off balance. If your close to someone give a good knee to the outside thigh.

because taking out thier knee is far far more effective. A groin kick might hurt like hell, but with adrenalin going, who knows?
He can recover somewhat and still attack. Pop the knee, hard enough (the knee is a weak joint in certain positions) it can really **** them up.

I've taken the time to repeatedly strike myself in the groin to build up pain tolerance from a woman's kick.
Now I am invincible
