Because some web sites require additional software that Internet Explorer does not have. Therefore, you need a plug-in in order to view everything on a web site.

yes i agree
some presentation internet explorer doesn't my it self like Real,Flash or Shockwave so u need a plug in
some times u need a plug in becouse u want to open a web site in any other language like korean,russian
it cannot decode them by it self so u need a plug in

Because the presentation is in Quicktime, or Real, or Macromedia Flash or Shockwave, and your browser can't play them without the plugin?
