Every time I try to melt cheese it always turns out burnt and crunchy

A pinch is not much at all, so will heat v. quickly.

Seconds at most - start on low power for say 5 seconds and build up to it. Remember, you can always cook it more, but not less!

You can't just melt shredded cheddar and expect it to be smooth. You'l lneed to mix it into a hot white sauce, or use Velveeta.

I would punch in 10 seconds and then stand and watch it and when it looks perfect take it out and write down the time on a post-it note and stick it nearby for future reference.

around seven seconds. but try shredding it and melting it with milk it makes it smoother. you don't kneed much milk or else you will drown your cheese. also cover with plastic wrap.
