You should not have to prove anything to him he already knows you. Just be there let him know how you feel and then walk away. If you are the one he will know and make his move in his own time. But don't wait around for him. You are not new in his life so if there is something then you both will know the right thing to do. Loving someone is great but unless they feel the same way back there is not much you can do. The important thing is to let him know how you feel without being emotionally about it.

Since you and this guy have been dating on and off for 3 years, I would not worry about trying to show him you won't treat him bad. After 3 years, he should already know how you treat him. Furthermore, I would not wait around for him to make up his mind to date you again. You have a child by this guy. It seems to me that when something better comes along he breaks up with you and then when they break up with him, he is running back to you. You need to start dating other people and let him know that you are not waiting around for him.

YOu cant prove to him that you will not treat him bad. You can support him but just give him some time and spend some good quality time with him. This will help alot.
