No, I don't think it is funny. Have you ever tried to kill a group of them, while they are running everywhere ?

La cucaracha is a cockroach there is a Mexican song by that name, it is a funny song that tells about a cockroach that can´t walk because it ran out of marihuana it is a very old song from when marihuana did not have the connotations we know nowadays and it was more used to cure ailings such as muscle soreness, and la chancla is a colloquial term to say sandal ( like the ones you use around a swimming pool ) and sometimes shoe in Mexico like " I can´t find my shoes" is "No puedo encontrar mis chanclas", also meaning an old ragged shoe and if you are told you are a "chancla vieja" it means you are an old woman or "es una chancla" or "una chancluda " a woman with a sloppy appearance.

La cucaracha, la cucaracha, ya no puede caminar, por que no tiene, por que le falta una pata para caminar.
