#1. Yes you have to tell
#2. They will not allow you to enlist . When my husband joined the recruiter was on the phone with a girl who had herpes and the recruiter told her that she would NOT be allowed to join.. Anyone with a contagious non curable disease is considered dangerous in the military...
#3. They will test you and once they find it you will be discharged, If they find out that you knew prior to joining I believe they will dishonorably discharge you...
Corrected answer for question #2.
You can join if your herpes isn't severe.... You need to be honest with your recruiter... Tell him or her that you are infected and That you are willing to sign the medical release forms so they can test the severity of your issue..

hi i am a medic in the army currently deployed in baghdad iraq, no/ yes/ no... ok 1st question i say no because in many ways the army is too legalistic and black and white is just shades of grey,if u become a leader as messed up as this sounds sometimes telling the truth will really F u but thats getting off the track...if ur at meps and u admit to drug use u disqualify yourself from some MOS's that might be perfect for u. we treat soldiers with herpes in our aid station its not a big deal since alot of ppl have it and it doesnt flare up until they get stressed and i have known a few soldiers who found out after they joined and it was because of military stress from training or while deployed. 2 is yes whether u are honest or not 3 as far as i remember they do the test for aids and TB and hepetitis, testing u for herpes if u say no and they suspect u have it....no, the military wasting money to prove you are lying and testing u...no but the military wastes a lot of money here in iraq i can promise u this...email me if u have anything else timjh25@yahoo

At the MEPS you are going to undergo a full physical and sign papers. Do not lie about having herpes. I doubt that is going to stop them from letting you in the military.

YES to all the above, i am prior enlisted Navy...you cant hide medical problems like that..it would be easier on you to come clean and tell them, otherwise you are more likely to get your butt chewed out by whomever is in charge because you are wasting their time and money

I don't think they check specifically for that on entry physicals. [and I wouldn't tell them] Stockpile some medicine [prescription only] so that you have enough to take with you for Basic Training and AIT. Then after you get to your permanent duty station, go to the doctor and follow up your treatment.

Tell them because they will find out anyway during your physical. Besides lots of soldiers have herpes no big secret.

It's doubtful that it will show up on tests. Unless you have physical evidence on your body, it's doubtful that it will be detected. You should tell them, however. Frankly, I don't believe it would be a deal breaker. No, they don't test for it.

I think you have to undergo a full physical, and sign medical disclosure statements.
If you lie, you will get a dishonorable discharge.
