The flu is a virus and antibiotics will not work, however, you can treat the symptoms.

Try some tylenol with codeine - this will reduce the fever and help the aches and pains.

You could also buy a package of cold tablets, like codrol. They are 4 a day for 7 days, with the night time tablet helping sleep.

I hope this helps in some small way. I've had the flu twice, it is not a fun experience.

If you are still sick after 7 days or if you have had no improvement after 3 days - get to the doctor!

Good luck!

You should not take antibiotics for flu. The flu is a virus and does not respond to antibiotics.

However, that said, if you are elderly or have other health problems then your doctor may want you to take antibiotics to guard against secondary infections.

You do not take antibiotics when you have the flu as it is a virus and antibiotics would do nothing. If you have the flu, all you can do is treat the symptoms of fever, cough, headache, body aches, etc. with over-the-counter medications and wait it out.

The Flu is a virus. Antibiotics won't do anything. The best thing you can do is drink plenty of fluids, stay rested, and best of all, get a flu shot, I stand by them 100%.

INFLUENZA (if that's what u really have) is a VIRUS. Antibiotics only treat bacterial infections, not virii, so the answer is NO, AMOXICILLIN OR ANY OTHER ANTIBIOTIC WILL NOT DO A DAMN THING FOR "THE FLU."

None because the flu is caused by a virus and antibiotics are useless against viruses.

Rocephen is the best for the signs and symptoms, but influenza is a virus and antibiotics will not work on that. You have to wear it out. Sorry

No, antibiotics are for bacterial infections. The flu is viral - you have to tough it out!

No. Antibiotics won't work on a virus.

Antibiotics are to fight bacteria.

If the flu has just begun, talk to a doctor and they can prescribe Tamiflu.
