I'd pay off my debt, pay off my house, and remodel it, put money aside for the kid's college educations, but the wife and children some nice things, and take the family on a vacation. The rest I'd put into some safe money market fund type of investments and try to hold onto it for a while. A million dollars is a lot of money, it would make our lives so much easier.

WHOOP & HOLLER!!!! Send a serious prayer of thanksgiving to the Big Guy Upstairs.

First I would make sure I'd tucked away enough to cover the taxes.

I would pay off all my debt including my mortgage.

I would finally be able to fund my "6 months living expenses" that all financial planners say we should have on hand.

I would put a good chunk away for retirement savings

I would give myself one or two major splurges - right now it would be a new sporty car and an Alaskan cruise with my honey.

I would give some of it away to deserving charities or individuals

If any left - put it in savings for the future.

1. Turn off my phone - every "lost" relative and nut job will be calling for money.
2. Take a vacation - some place far away and exotic.
3. Hire a financial consultant - don't want to be broke 5 years down the road.
4. Enjoy life.

Probably call a financial analyst. I'd have to determine what the tax cut would be before I started spending any of it.

I would likely buy a house with some land for my family to settle into. Then I would talk with the analyst about how to break down the rest for investing (kids college funds) as well as donating to charities.

jack in my job, go on holiday and think about all that money, then come home think about it some more as i am chauffeur driven to book yet another holiday. Would end up giving some of it away, putting some of it to good use and then just chill out and enjoy the rest.

my partner would spend it on....beer, women and wine and squander the rest!!

I'd pay off all my old debts first, then look into getting financial counseling before asking my mom for whatever her heart desires. Then try to act as normal as possible and not let anyone else outside my mother know about it.
