Not eating past 3 PM is an unhealthy myth. You should be eating multiple small meals through the day with attention to making them a healthy balance of nutrients. Here are some suggestions.
First, for all of the "quick and easy" weight loss diet pill suggestions, remember, if something sounds too good to be true... it probably is, particularly if you have to pay for it.
On Yahoo!Answers I find certain questions being asked repeatedly which is simply a reflection of new people participating. A couple of common questions amount to "How do I lose weight," or more specifically, "How do I lose abdominal fat?" I have gotten very positive responses from my answers when I paused to reply (and now beginning to get "It works!" emails that are very gratifying. I like helping people)... so have recently decided to put a good solid answer on my Yahoo!360 Blog (September 10) that I can point people to. These are my thoughts as a physician and athlete.
Don't target losing more than about 2 lbs per week. If you try to lose faster, your body will go into "starvation mode" and get very stingy about burning calories while at the same time very efficient about storing any calories that you do provide. And it will make you feel awful.
There is no site specific way of losing fat... the old myth about working your abs to burn belly fat isn't true. To get rid of love handles, you need to lose overall fat. That happens with exercise and watching your diet. More on that below.
The most effective way to lose fat is aerobic exercise in the "moderate" fat-burning range, ideally first thing in the morning before you eat. When you wake your body is ready to burn fat and your levels of growth hormone are highest at that time. Later in the day it can take up to 30 minutes just to put your body into a fat-burning mode.
Another overlooked way to burn fat is by lifting weights. Skeletal muscle has very high caloric needs... almost twice that of adipose (fat) tissue. Put on a little muscle and you will burn calories all day even at rest. Be aware that skeletal muscle weighs more, so with this approach you may see your weight increasing while your body fat is melting away. Not realizing this often stresses folks who think they should be losing weight as a measure of fitness. Forget the scale, look in the mirror and you will be happy.
To lose a pound of fat, you need to eliminate about 3500 calories. You can do this by burning more with exercise or by modifying your diet to reduce intake. If you do a Google search on say, "swimming calories" you will quickly find a website with tables of calories burned for a given exercise. You can use such lists to estimate how many calories you are burning up with your routine.
For diet, keep a diary for a couple of weeks counting calories, grams of protein, and grams of fat intake. It is easy with online sources of nutritional information (type the name of the food and calories into the Google search engine) and packaging labels. That will let you quickly figure out where the fat is coming from in your diet.
Fat gives you 9 calories per gram. So take the number of grams of fat, multiply by 9, then calculate what percentage the fat calories are of your total daily calories. Restricting the calories from fat to about 20% of your total intake is ideal for a maintenance diet... that isn't overly restrictive. Of note, you need some fat in your diet. For instance, the body uses fat to produce hormones. Once you have a picture of how to modify your diet, you can drop the diary and just go back to it occasionally if you are wanting to tweek things further.
There is a subset of questions that goes further and asks about "How to get a six-pack?" The answer is the same. Six-packs are 20% abdominal exercise and 80% diet. There is one caveat... abdominal muscles will form in the position that you work them, so be certain to pull them tightly toward your spine while doing crunches, etc. Also, during most lifting, the "core is active" which means that you should be stabilizing with contracted abs then too. Fail to do this and the abs will form, but bulging outward and the result is not attractive.
If you are trying to build muscle as a way to lose fat, then you may need to increase total calories and specifically your protein intake. I target about 0.8 g of protein per pound of body weight each day when actively building. That is far more protein than most people need in their diets.

Diet pills are not good for you because they will help control the hunger but you have to keep taking them to keep your hunger from coming back. Once you stop taking the diet pill your body will think it is starving and you will eat, eat and eat and put on the weight you lost plus some. I am currently in a weight loss program and you should eat at least 6 small meals and stop eating nasty stuff altogether and if you get hungry late, just eat some veggies or fruit to fill up. If you want a diet pill that will curve your appetite, but like I said, it is not good for you but you will stop eating and lost weight but trust me, eventually you will be packing that weight on again if your not careful. The best way to lose weight is good diet and exercise, but the pill is Stacker 2,it will help you with the hunger. Good Luck!

I did the "don't eat after 3pm" for about 15 years, and it DOES work. However, I was younger and onstage at the time. Since I quit being on stage, I have stopped. I initially started at 7pm and started losing weight. Every hour I went back I lost five pounds. More and more until I was absolutely thin. 145 lbs! I stayed that way, for 20 years. Another thing that helped was staying busy, and having a warm body against my stomach at night. Fasting in the evening is a good thing in any case. If you can do it, and have the will power. It should be mandatory after 7pm or earlier. Why do you think they call it "Break Fast?"
After I quit music and lost my motivation to stay thin, I started eating after 3pm, and back came the weight.(although,it was nice to be a normal person and eat dinner again) I now eat way too much, and have gained weight. I weigh 190 lbs. I wish I could stop eating after 3pm again.
I took Phentermine, years later. Phentermine is GREAT!!! It just makes you not want to eat very much. I lost weight,( about 25 lbs) but gained it right back after stopping. Unfortunately, no one will give you a prescription for Phentermine. It is also expensive, they say it is extremely bad, and can kill you. It is 1/2 of the Fen-Phen drug. In any case, if someone would give me a prescription and I could pay for it, I would take it. If it killed me, at least I lived for a while being thin. Who wants to be fat and old anyway?
By the way, that other stuff you see online that they call phentermine, is NOT the real Phentermine. It is B.S. doesn't work and is really expensive. (I tried that also) You HAVE TO HAVE A PRESCRIPTION FOR THE REAL PHENTERMINE!
I have tried everything and only had a glimmer of hope for awhile. Lipordex worked for three months. I lost 15lbs and thought my quest was finally over. Unfortunately, I built up a tolerance and the 15lbs I lost, is back, and Lipordex doesn't work for me any more.
I have spent 100's of dollars looking for something that will stop this craving for my mouth hunger (not stomach hunger) to pacify my lonely, boring life. Food also helps me sleep, as I wake up several times a night, and eating something puts me back to sleep.
I hear Meth works if you don't mind going insane, losing your teeth, and ending up in jail. Not one of those things appeals to me, so I will keep searching for the perfect legal diet pill. Good Luck!

Pumping chemicals into your body is dangerous and its not natural... to stop your hunger make a small veg stir fry.. or eat loads of fruit. Drinking loads of water helps reduce hunger because most of the time its water your body wants not food. It works for me, my hunger has gone down since i stared eating a wholesome breakfast, drinking loads of water, if i got peckish I'd eat fruit. then a healthy dinner, it's worked wonders for me. I've lost weight slowly but surely and i feel great.. Oh ryvita with anything you want on it works too.. Diet pills bad idea...

I am using a system that has hoodia in the protein ice cream drink, citrus boosters, and supplements. I am also using an energy drink that has 5 carbs and 22 calories with no sugar and no caffeine anhydrous.I have lost 35 pounds since July 15, 2006. The second day I started, I noticed my cravings went away. If I can be of further assistance, let me know.

Try making a small bowl of oatmeal -- Kashi instant would be great. Lots of fiber, carbs to help you unwind and sleep, and it fills you up with few calories -- and they're worth it because it's so healthy. Have it with a small glass of nonfat or low fat milk, and you'd be doing good things for your body -- giving it good nutrients, getting it ready for sleep, and the calcium would be a big plus. Oatmeal and low fat milk are extremely healthy foods that provide plenty of vitamins and minerals.
You don't want to be taking diet pills, especially before bedtime, whether prescription or over the counter.

The best way to curb your hunger is by eating complex carbohydrate foods which make you feel full longer. Also try drinking a glass of water before you eat, which will also make you feel more full and eat less. Drinking lots of water everyday also prevents your body from retaining water, which will also shed a couple pounds :)
