I'm distressed because my 2 year old will no longer use the potty in my house because a snake crawled up inside the bowl in our trailer and he was on the potty and heard it moving around in the water below him.

He was in the middle of a BM and ran out of the bathroom with his pants around his ankles with BM falling to the carpet from his legs and behind. He tripped and fell, knocking his front teeth out.

I was outside enjoying a smoke with some friends when I heard him crying and screaming for me. After I finished my beer I went in and saw him in such a state. Out of anger I slapped him across his head because he got BM and blood all over our rug but I felt bad when he explained to me what happened.

Now he won't use the potty, he won't even go near the bathroom.
What should I do?

First understand that he is two and he not only got frightened by the situation but then he was mistreated by you. Double whammy. Until you can make him feel that what happened was not his fault you are going to have difficulty helping him with this.
Continue to reassure him that you have taken care of the situation and that a snake cannot get into the house that way again.
Find someway to make him understand that you made a terribly mistake in reacting the way you did and that you are trying to find a way to deal with this. Please seek help if you are finding yourself reacting this way to a two year old. Life will bring you many more difficult situations and I would hope that you would not want to continue to abuse the child because you react instead of question why something has happened.
Everything in life can be replaced except your child. Don't lose him because of your behaviors.
If he continues to avoid the bathroom after you have gently worked with him over a few months you may have to try some counseling. Fear is a terrible thing and now the bathroom represents two fears for him; the snake and you.
Good luck and take care.

I find you disgusting & hilarious all at once! For one reason you make these people think you're for real when it's so obvious you ain't (I'm using this word so you understand)! But you really shouldn't make fun of children and the horrors they are too often forced to live through in this unair world you keep talking about. I know that you are really someone against all this $hit you keep spreading & hope your points come across & not mess some simple peoples beliefs up!

You are kidding, no one is that dumb. Are you making fun of people that live in trailors-2 year olds that aren't potty trained-Smoking drunks-or what? Do you dream of a snake being in the toilet when you go, and disappearing for ever? Make yourself CLEAR -please.

Have another beer and call children's services. They'll take care of that little problem for you.
