What does the word 'masturbation' mean? I'm 39 years old. And my friends at work laughed at me when I asked them what it meant.

You Poor thing... It means to pleasure ones self. To explore your own body - What you like and what you don't.... Everybody does it because it's something you can do alone...
It can be done with a partner which is cool , With a group which is even better or with a whole community which is awesome....
If I were you I'd advertise for someone to come over and show you how its done ... There will always be a friend ready to give a hand in times like these.
