What type of handgun does your department use?

Question

Doing a survey on the types and brands of pistols police use throughout the world. If you could tell me what city and country, that would be good. No need for specific departments.

I don't know. The last time one was pointed at my face, another cop was shining a flashlight in my eyes and yet another was yelling at me to "GET DOWN, SHUT UP!" I peed myself. I forgot to ask him what kind of gun it was. Maybe next time, I'll remember to ask.

georgia most departments in georgia use glock 22 or the glock 23 40.cal. some however do use the sig sauer 45.cal .

Standard issue is a 9mm however a lot of officers have chosen to go with the .40 caliber for its increased stopping power. .45's have also been popular here but due to the smaller magazines they are usually held as of duty weapons of choice.

we have been useing the Glock 22 .40 but the dept. has now issueing the new Smith&Wesson M&P .40 ( M&P = Military&Police a new gun made by S&W) along with new Taser X26 www.smith-wesson.com

this is a .44 magnum, possibly the most powerful handgun in the world. at this distance it will blow your head clean off punk!
during the chase and with all the noise and shooting going on, i lost track, did I fire 5 or 6 times? so you just have to ask yourself one question?

no longer active, but we carried Glock 9 mm.
Officers carried their personal back up weapons, and they varied by officer preference
