it sounds like the cathode ray tube is on it way out, it only only starts to work properly once it warms up.

it will start to get worse as time goes on, and eventually, it will just stop working and you will need a new TV

alright heres the RIGHT answer. if thats a direct view tv or CRT rear projection tv it sounds like you have high voltage arcing, this will cause the picture to flicker. there is most likely a crack in the hi voltage wire and when the set is off humidity builds in the set from the surrounding air and when you turn the set on again after awhile the high voltages arcs thru thr humidity in the air until it warms up and the humidity is gone. if this is a set say 32 inches or larger it definitely worth repairing because its an easy fix.

It's a dry joint, when it warms up the connection makes better contact so the flicker should stop. Leave until it packs in, if it ever does.

It's knackered and as TV's are disposable I'd buy a new one.

Fixing it will be more expensive.

Sell it on eBay before it is completely knackered though to get some money back.

Could be the lamp. If it's an old tv have it checked. Tv's are known to cause fires so you better make sure it's safe

The Cathode Ray Tube is starting to burn out. There's not much you can do about it. I'd just get a new one if I were you.

Your picture tube is going out. You might as well buy a new TV, because picture tubes are very expensive.
