You may have plantar fasciitis or a heel spur.

What about New Balance or Asics? Also, get an insert for the shoe. I am including the link to the spec sheet for one from SofSole. Take the insert that comes in the shoes out, That little thing wears out in a week of wear. YES! A week!

I work in retail and know exactly what you are talking about! Luckily I worked in a sporting goods store was trained in these products, so I tried and they are wonderful!! Nike never worked for me either.

If you do decide to try this, let me know how it worked!!

You are probably getting a bone spur or heel spur or plantar Facitis, you should see your doctor, because it will probably get worse. You can go to a drug store or walmart and purchase memory foam inserts $7.00 for your shoes this will offer temporary relief, anti-inflammatories like Naproxen (Aleve) might also help. I went through alot of different kinds of inserts but the memory foam ones actually work, I also found that Dr. Scholls Tennis shoes with the Gel heal, are quite comfortable and only about $20 at Walmart.
I recommend you see your primary doctor for prescription anti inflammatories as soon as you can.and Xrays... There are also store Like " The Good Feet Store" that offer custom made shoes and inserts, but that is usually an expense way but often necessary in order to get the proper fit and support for your foot. If you can't go to the Doctor
you should try the inserts and Aleve, Rubbing Bengay on your foot, soaking your feet at night and all of this will only offer Temporary help, and the longer you go without it the worse it will get until it will require surgery.... from one who has been there...

Facepalm. Just get used to them, and find the right style variation and height that you are most comfortable with. I dance Argentine Tango, and ladies turn up and DANCE in heels for hours, some of them dancing 3 or more nights every week, and SOME of those ladies also wear heels as a matter of course all day long as well. Think of the hours that Professional Tangueras spend on their feet in heels! It's perfectly fine.

Athletic shoes are for playing not standing / walking at work.

Go spend $150- 220 USD on some Red-Wing boots.

All of these ideas are great, but if there is bony misalignment in the body, especially the hips, knees and/or ankle, than that could be the cause of your pain. I suggest seeing a chiropractor to help with possible alignment issues. If you don't current see a chiropractor, go to www.sorsi.com to find a doctor near you. If you are in Minnesota, go to my website at www.healinghandschiro.com.

I have the same prob, try insoles that are arched and some gel heel pads this seems to help me some. I think it is the beginnings of "plantar faccitas" I'm sure I butchered the spelling.

Go get nursing shoes from a specialty shop and use Dr. Scholl's insoles, which you will have to replace every few days.

As a nurse I had the same problem...If you are allowed in your workplace...try Crocs...they are WONDERFUL. Some places don't allow them. They are around 30 to 40 USD. Knockoffs are available at Wal-Mart, Payless, etc and seem to work just as well.

Try some heel cushions.
Be sure your shoes are properly fitted. If your arch and ball of foot are not resting properly in your shoes, the heel also is not resting properly.
