No matter how terrible a person may be, it doesn't give you to right to be mean to them and to stand by and watch someone do it to someone else is not good...
She is your niece, you are supposed to be a role model,,, instead of being negative towaards her, be the grownup and be positive. maybe she just needs some love and good attention from someone who cares....

Depending on what you mean by "mean", i hope he's not hitting her and you're condoning it! If he just tries to instill some discipline maybe he should stop and you should take control of disciplining your own niece.After all, she is your relative not his. Avery should try to be nice to her maybe take her out for ice cream sometime and have fun with her at the park just the two of them.. Allow them to bond and you'll see changes (hopefully good ones..lol..)
