That sounds quite likely. The bounty is probably paid by the brainwashers

Really this question is a bit unanswerable, as any bomber that blows himself up will blow up the evidence, and if the people who send him out were to blow him up the same effect happens.
The real point is that if you (or whoever told you) can imagine this, then whoever designs the bombs surely can.

I strongly disagree with Justin from the USMC EOD:

"One trigger One bomb these people are poor and improvised they cant afford these elaborate bombing systems...."

As a member of a professional unit that deals with explosives I am sure he will know that these 'elaborate' systems are anything but: without putting instructions on the internet, pressure pads on car seats are definitley not 'elaborate', neither are they expensive.

Secondly, do not be fooled into beleiving these people are poor and impoverished, neither (not that Justin does) should we believe they are simple. They are very well funded (often at the expense of public amenities) and are have as equally vivid imaginations as the person who first thought of this thread when it comes to designing IED's (Improvised Explosive Devices)

The real issue is that as soon as we have figured out what methods suicide bombers are using it is often too late. There are drills with which to counter suicide bombers, but they can often learn these and create new methods to sidestep these. A very good example of this is that the 'drill' for dealing with a suspected suicide bomber - if you could get close enough - was to throw all your body weight on him and prevent him from detonating the device. The bombers soon learned this and developed ways to evade this: pressure pads around his person so any pressure (eg a knee to the abdomen) would set it off. Simply shooting him tends not to work anymore as most devices now are inversed: that is that the explosion happens when the trigger is released, and the bomber holds the trigger in when he gets near his target.

The best 'answer' I can give to this question is not to give a simple yes or no, but if I describe what a suicide bomber is supposed to look like then you can draw your own conclusions: He will be dressed in bulky clothing, he will seem very focused and ignoring his surroundings (eg knocking into people, not looking around) and will possibly appear nervous, perhaps sweating. He may also be chanting/praying. However the other key indicator is his partner. Nearly all will have a partner maybe 50-100 metres behind him with an automatic weapon whose role it is to make sure the bomber gets to his destination.

I hope this gives you the information you were interested in. It is not perverse to inquire about this, it is important people realise what life is really like for the many troops who have to live with this fear every day. For your information a Royal Marine was killed and another very seriously injured this morning in just such an attack, so it is highly relevant.

Speaking from experience (NO!) there is no second trigger most are a timed thing or car bombs have a mechanism under the seat where if the weight of the person is lifted off the seat the bomb goes off. Most suicide bombers no days use that strategy and some use cell phone detonated devices where they call a certain number and the charge from the battery to the speaker is taped by another wire going straight to the bomb so when its activated it goes off. One trigger One bomb these people are poor and improvised they cant afford these elaborate bombing systems....

Hey, good idea! Glad you posted it here, so amateurs can learn.

This is old news. But you're so COOL for posting this material here, so the young ones can learn, if they haven't thought of this yet.

Saddam Hussein paid some "bounties" when he was ruling. There are enough wealthy individuals, and if not, people get together a fund of money just like we do here, putting in change in jars at gas stations and convenience stores. The "homicide/suicide bombers" are heroes, martyrs to the faith, remember?

The families are given money as a ''reward'' for the deed done. It will give aid to the usually very poor family.

These suicide bombers would probably not change their minds at the last minute----they are too souped up. The word assassin comes from the word hashish. Have you ever looked at the pictures of these people, taken just as they go out to do their work? They are so spaced out on drugs, and so indoctrinated, they are too much on a high to back out.

Several suicide bombers who were not successful were found to be carrying remote detonation switches. They refused to believe that the devices were on them and accused their captors of planting them.
Successful bombers do not leave a lot of evidence so no one knows if this is a usual practice.
Several groups give money to the families of suicide bombers. They range from Muslim religious groups to political groups such as Hamas

Although this might be true in a very few cases, the ones that were stopped before they triggered the device, did not. You have to remember that these people are dying for their religion, which is a powerful force in their lives. Religion is the central motivation, and dying for it, guarantees them a place in their concept of heaven. As to family benefits, the only benefit is the pride that the family can take, in someone dying for their beliefs.

From my limited experience...suicide bombers truly believe it's a good way to die in this cause...in this manner.

They are martyred...meaning they become exactly like the Christians martyr...Jesus Christ...

And this death "saves" the family in their mortal life as well as guarantees the families entry into heaven.

Why Osama hasn't martyred himself is beyond me.

Sorry, I don't know who pays the bounty - but look at all the money hezzbullah throws out.

Do you really think the cowards who direct those poor benighted souls are really going to allow themselves to be near enough to the bomb to activate a dead man's switch?

And yes, from what I have heard talking to many people who have cause ( they feel) to support such groups , if in voice only;some of them do offer huge monetary support to the families of the bombers.

So I believe.

The Irish IRA used a similar tactic back in the 80's when they would kidnap peoples families and threaten to kill them unless they drove trucks of high explosive into army bases.

They would often have remote triggers.
