So verily, with the hardship, there is relief,
Verily, with the hardship, there is relief (i.e. there is one hardship with two reliefs, so one hardship cannot overcome two reliefs).
(Qur'an 94:5-6)

May Allah guide your friend through this difficult time, and may he pass any test put before him, and may he remember that Allah is the All Knowing, All Wise

O Ye who believe,

Seek help with patient perseverance and prayer
For Allah is with those who patiently persevere.

And say not of those who are slain in the way of Allah, they are dead, Nay they are living though ye perceive it not

And be sure we shall test you with something of fear, hunger, and loss of goods, lives and fruits of your toil.

But give glad tidings for those who patiently persevere, who say when afflicted with clamity, to Allah we belong, and to him is our return.

They are those on whom descend blessings from the Lord and mercy, and they are the ones who receive guidence.

Do you know for SURE where his parents are right now? If you do not, you cannot help him. Just be his friend. Be there for him so that he can say anything he has into his mind.
