That's an incredibly naive statement. Likely, Iraq as a nation WOULD cease to exist, and many Iraqis would die. Pulling out our troops now would be like ripping a knife from a gaping wound, and would be foolish, regardless of whether you believe we should have gone in there in the first place.

Of course there is chaos in Iraq. They are surrounded by warlike countries and were just under a dictatorship themselves not long ago. That doesn't mean they are doomed to a chaotic fate, it just means they have to grow up, just like every nation does. America could be a fairly wild place at times in it's history (like the Civil War), and in the inner cities it still is. But I don't hear any talk of withdrawing police from L.A. or New York. But for all our faults, America has come a long way, and compared to the rest of the world, has done a reasonably good job. Iraq can grow to, we just can't give up on them. We can't undo the war, we have to follow through with what we started.

Remember, the troops over there signed up for the military. Most of them want to be there (I know, I've known some of them). I have a friend who was in the marines and volunteered to go to Iraq. Then, when he got out recently, he signed up with a civilian organization to go back over to Iraq, and is threre now.

P.S. to Franco- 1, for the most part it isn't Iraqis who are killing us, it's foreign insurgents from neighboring countries. And we have had far fewer casualties in this war than in wars in the past. Every life lost is a tragedy, but we seem to be getting very soft. 2, I could be wrong, but I believe the Sudan DOES have oil.

Iraq will fragment into the three components that make it up and they will spend a time killing each other. Something will come out of the turmoil. But what ever it is it will be their solution and their problem. The same thing would have happened if Saddam had died without a strong secession

You are so sure eh? The Iraqi's will survive but it will be worse that Saddam and the middle east will be in total turmoil. You need to look a little further down the process of logic before you make such silly statements as this. Does Iraq need to step up more? You betcha, but they are certainly not ready to go it alone.

I won't go into the big question of why Iraq was invaded in the first place. This has alienated the Islamic world and driving recruits to Al Quieda (spelling).
But it has become the new training ground for AQ. AQ recruits are moving in and out of the country freely and cutting their teeth and then going home developing terrorist cells in their home countries (Europe).
Karma's kicking GWB in the backside.

Pull out = civil war = countless dead. (Less dead under the saddam regime).
Territories split that eventually become countries. These countries will stop the free flow of people in and out. Then Europe (not America - unless democrats are in power) send envoys and sets up embassies. Trade and development begin.

P.S Taliban 1 was not taken care of never mind Taliban 2.

That's my two cents.

Actually, I would expect Iraq to cease to exist, much like Yugoslavia has ceased to exist and splintered into multiple countries.

We invaded Iraq in order to bring them democracy, and in the hope they would be grateful and become our friends and allies. But we we proved to be absolute idiots in expecting Muslims to have our ideals behave like us. Instead, they hate us for being there and are killing us any way they can. So, we should say " if you do not want our help, stew in your own juice" and get out.

We should stop trying to help people who do not want to be helped. The people of Darfur in Sudan are being slaughtered by the Muslim Arabs, and the atrocities are far worse than in Iraq under Sadam. They are crying for our help and no one is doing anything about it. Is it because they have no oil? Then we should stop being such hypocrites.

You made it an Iraqi hell, be prepared to face the consequences of your actions and for once take proper responsibility for what you have done. Yes, RESPONSIBILITY!

As for 'lovely' that is highly debatable. How can you think immoral people that abuse the people they are supposed to 'liberate' (i.e. in Abu Graib) are 'lovely'? Ridiculously deluded.
