Has anyone has experience of having an incorrect fare on London Underground and been prosecuted for it? On what grounds did the proscecution happen? What was the outcome? On what grounds did the prosecution not succeed?

The reason I ask is because of a situtation that has occured in which I think a friend is being prosecuted for a complete accident on their part, and who is concerned about the outcomes.
