Do layout, images, font size and type, colour scheme etc, play an important role in the overall effectiveness of the adverts?
Is there anything you would like to say concerning passive smoking?

In my lifetime smoking has gone from a socially acceptable habit to a socially unacceptable habit. In old movies everyone smokes, that was passive advertising, now only the bad guys smoke, another passive message.

Everything about an ad counts, color, layout, font, photographs, lighting, and placement

In my opinion, the recent passive-smoking advertisments have been getting the message to the public. In California, we have seen an outpouring of public support for the banning of smoking in many public areas (just passed a couple years ago).
I wouldn't note color scheme, font size and type to be the significant factors in geting the public aware of the issue. In my mind, the images of the effects on children and pregnant women (that I have seen on the recent television advertismenets) have been the most significant factor for myself.
